Intense Pulse Light To The Rescue!

In the Carolinas, Summer weather lasts longer than the traditional June, July, and August. With Fall approaching, boating, beaching, and other sun exposure-related events decrease along with the strength of the damaging ultraviolet rays. Over the Summer fun months, you may have accumulated some sun damage. Intense Pulse Light, known as photofacials to the rescue!

Brown spots, wrinkles, and lines make your skin look older. At Physician's Plan Weight Loss + MedSpa, we strongly recommend a package of IPL photofacials to reduce the appearance of sun-damaged skin.

Intense pulsed light (IPL) is an advanced light therapy that targets pigmentation, including red and brown spots, uneven skin tone, freckles, and sun damage on the face, hands, neck, and chest. Multiple wavelengths of light energy penetrate below the surface of your skin to break up melanin cells. The pigment gradually flakes off to expose a more even skin tone and a younger-looking complexion.

A series of three to six IPL photofacials can reveal a more radiant layer of the skin without downtime or significant discomfort. Blotchiness evens out, fine lines fade, and enlarged pores diminish by using IPL's numerous simultaneous wavelengths from red light to blue light and the wavelengths in between. "During a photofacial, the light waves that go below the surface of your skin break up dark spots and encourage new collagen production that fills in wrinkles and helps your skin appear smoother and firmer over time," shares Charleston Physician's Plan's aesthetician, Carly Martin.

IPL treatments begin by cleansing and covering the treatment area of choice with a clear gel. The IPL device emits light pulses that target damaged areas of your skin. A light stinging sensation may occur during treatment.

IPL therapy removes birthmarks, varicose veins, rosacea, and age spots. Treatments only take about half an hour and have no recovery time. At Physician's Plan, we recommend packages of three to six treatments spaced a month apart for best results. In the week following your procedure, any pigmented lesions will darken before they begin to fade.
