Shaun Nguyen, MD
A native of Hilton Head Island, Dr. Nguyen received a Bachelors degree in Applied Sociology/ Biology from The Honors College of the University of South Carolina, where he played collegiate golf. He attended graduate school at the University of North Carolina–Chapel Hill and East Carolina University, where he earned a Master’s degree in Public Health/Biostatistics. Following medical school and internship in medicine and surgery at University College London, England, Dr. Nguyen came home to South Carolina and MUSC in 2000 for his fellowship. Dr. Nguyen is presently Assistant Professor and Director of Clinical Research for the Department of Otolaryngology and MUSC. Besides working on a Head & Neck Oncology textbook in his spare time, Dr. Nguyen also enjoys sailing and scuba diving.
Dr. David Smith
Dr. David Smith is a native Charlestonian who received a Bachelors of Science from the Citadel and attended the Medical University of South Carolina earning his medical degree in 1977. After a rotating internship at Greenville General Hospital, he served in the National Health Service Corps as a General Practitioner for four years. He returned to Greenville and completed residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology and has been back in the Charleston area since 1986. He has been affiliated with Physician’s Plan for almost 5 years. He and his wife Patty have been married for 36 years and have four children and one grandchild.
